Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Mon., Sept. 19, for Donald LeRoy Jorenby, 80, Arlington, South Dakota who died Sept. 15, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare there. The Rev. Loren Odland will officiate in Trinity Lutheran Curch at Arlington, and burial will be in Arlington Cemetery with military honors by the Arlington American Legion. Casketbearers will be Todd, Kurt and Kjertsen Christensen, Laura Wakamna, Adam and Aaron Nelson, Justin, Jolynn and Jeremy Benthin, and Jamie Duncan. Organist will be Bob Kallesen and soloist will be Gene Lohan. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5-7 p.m., at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington.

Jorenby was born Sept. 26, 1924, at Volga to Norman and Stella (Waage) Jorenby. He attended country schools around Volga and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1945-47. After returning home, he began farming near Lake Campbell. He married Lois Hammer on Feb. 3, 1954, at Rock Rapids, Iowa. They farmed near Volga and Arlington. On Oct. 7, 1971, he donated a kidney to his sister Marjorie. In 1974, he and his wife moved to White, where he farmed. In 1978, he began working at Brookings Co-op. He moved back to Arlington and retired in 1980 due to health problems. He was an active member of the American Legion.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Cheryl Duncan) of Arlington, and Steven (Kay) of Brookings; a daughter, Bonnie (Jerome) Nelson of Lake Preston; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five brothers, Lyle (Mildred) of Brookings, Burton (Garnet) of Arlington, John of Thermoplis, Wyo., Clifford (Lori) of Toronto, and David of Lake Campbell; three sisters, Betty Bovee of Sioux Falls, Marjorie (Alton) Quam of Sinai, and Sharon (Jim) Watt of Lake Campbell; and his ex-wife, Lois Jorenby. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carrol. The Johnson-Henry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
