Oakley Teddy "Mike" Adams, the son of William D. and Minnie Ruhl Adams, was born south of Webster City, Iowa on June 21, 1909. He grew up in the Webster City area and also lived in Oklahoma as a young man and then moved back to Webster City. In 1926, he established the Mike Adams Truck Line at Webster City and was the owner and operator in Webster City and later at Eagle Grove until he retired in 1972. He was one of the early pioneers of the trucking business in North Central Iowa. On March 5, 1936, he was united in marriage with Nellie Thurmond at Humboldt, Iowa. The family made their home in Webster City until 1941, when they moved to Eagle Grove. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He died early Tuesday morning, April 29th, 1986, at the Story City Memorial Hospital in Story City, Iowa at the age of 76 years, ten months and eight days.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie Adams of Eagle Grove, two daughters, Lodean, Mrs. Don Albers of Crystal Minn., Betty, Mrs. Clarence Wilde of Eagle Grove; three sons, Milton D. Adams, of Oakland. Minn., Ronald Adams of Webster City, Michael Adams of Woodruff, Wis.; 23 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Zepha Ruhl of Webster City and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services for O. T. "Mike" Adams, age 76, of Eagle Grove were held on Thursday, May 1, 1966 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott C. Hall, church pastor officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Wednesday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
