SHEFFIELD, IA — Alberta “Berdie” L. Oldag, 75, of Sheffield, died Sunday (Nov. 23, 2003) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Reformed Church, 2029 Jonquil Ave, Sheffield, with the Rev. Arthur Zewert presiding. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Retz-Grarup Funeral Home in Sheffield.
Berdie Oldag was born July 21, 1928, at Latimer, Iowa, a daughter of Jacob and Bertha (Gerdes) Koenen. She was confirmed in the Christian faith at Meservey Reformed Church and graduated from Sheffield High School. On Oct. 18, 1952, Berdie was united in marriage with George Oldag in Hampton. As he was serving in the U.S. Navy, they lived in many places eventually retiring in Sheffield. Berdie was a member of Zion Reformed Church. She enjoyed crocheting and listening to music as well as venturing to the casinos. She was devoted to her family and was cherished by her husband and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her loving family includes: her husband of 51 years, George Oldag; daughters: Deborah Kay (Richard) Millard, of Mason City, and Jackie Dee (Lee) Cutler, of Greene; six grandchildren: Kimberly, Tony and Bethany Millard; Amber (Rob) Cameron; Ben and Brandon Cutler; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Maya; three sisters: Stiennette Hansen, of Cheyenne, Wyo., Minnie Meyer, of Latimer and Ruth Doane, of Sheffield. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Ione Meyer. Retz-Grarup Funeral Home.
