Eugene, Oregon- Geraldine Carma Vierkant, 77, of Eugene, Oregon, formerly of Nora Springs, Iowa died Saturday, October 29, 2005, at the Good Neighbors Home, Eugene, Oregon. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, November 3, 2005, at the Nora Springs United Methodist Church, 202 North Hawkeye, with Reverend Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery, Nora Springs. Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM today at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs. Memorials may be directed to the Nora Springs United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

Geraldine Carma Vierkant was born on March 17, 1928 in rural Fairbanks, Iowa, daughter of Roy and Lillian (Bratchart) Neil. She graduated from Waterloo West High School. Carma moved to Nora Springs in 1948 and worked at Neil Café in Nora Springs for several years and later worked at Liberty Square and the Nora Springs Care Center as a cook. She was united in marriage to Ben Vierkant on August 11, 1953 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Carma was a member of the Nora Springs United Methodist Church, were she was active in the United Methodist Women's Circles. She was also a long time member in the local bridge club, and volunteered at the Nora Springs Care Center. Carma had a love for cats, enjoyed cooking and baking, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her three children, Diane Pigg and her husband David, Jacksonville, IL; Deb Vierkant, Eugene, OR; and Denise Waggoner and her husband Roger, Eugene, OR; three grandchildren, Jason Pigg and his wife Aimee, Ruston, LA; Jeff Pigg and his wife Kristi, Des Moines; and Megan, Eugene, OR; one great-granddaughter, Elena Pigg, Ruston, LA; one sister, Carole Murphy, Hood Rover, OR; and one nephew, Rod Murphy and his wife Kara, Napa, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Ben, whom passed away on December 24, 2000. Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs, Iowa.
