HANGS HIMSELF IN STAIRWAY
Adolph Mourlam, Well Known Woolstock Resident, Found Dead by Wife. Hung From Landing. Was Man 58 Years of Age. No Cause Known Unless Despondency.
Woolstock, Iowa, June 19. (Special.)--Coming down stairs in her home at 4:30 o'clock this morning and finding the dead body of her husband hanging in the stairway, was a shocking experience of Mrs. Adolph D. Mourlam. Almost overcome by the sight, she rushed out of doors, where she soon recovered. She returned to the house to cut down the body and then called for assistance. Physicians estimate that Mr. Mourlam had been dead at least 15 minutes when his body was found by his wife. Mr. and Mrs. Mourlam were both in the habit of rising very early in the morning. The husband had, evidently, risen some fifteen minutes ahead of his wife. He rook a rope from the postiers downstairs, looped it about his neck and hung himself from the casing on the stair landing.
Mr. Mourlam was 58 years of age. There were no children, but beside the wife, there are four brothers, of whom one, Prosper, lives at 620 Webster street, Webster City. Mr. Mourlam was engaged in road work and had been at work regularly. No cause is known for his act unless it was despondency. He had been a resident of Woolstock some twenty years.
