JUNCTION CITY, KS -- Carrie J. Stanek, 94, Junction City, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at a Topeka hospital. She was born Jan. 8, 1909, in Lyra, Texas, to John and Mary Mesicek. She moved to Junction City from Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mrs. Stanek was a member of the Catholic faith. She married Theodore T. Stanek on Sept. 11, 1929, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He died in April 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Jo Sullivan, Junction City; a brother, Hubert Mesicek, Humboldt, Iowa; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Cemetery in Junction City. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka, 66604; or Campus Crusade for Christ, Attention: Living Memorials, 100 Lake Hart Drive, Department 2400, Orlando, Fla., 32832. Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel in Junction City is in charge of arrangements.
