December 7, 1916 -- October 25, 2010

Hubert James Mesicek, 93, of Humboldt, IA died Monday, October 25, 2010 at North Care Center in Humboldt. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Hardy, IA. Hubert was born to John & Mary Mesicek on December 7, 1916 in Lyra, TX. The family moved to Iowa when he was little. He was celebrating his birthday in 1941 when Pearl Harbor was bombed. Within 24 hours he enlisted with the US Navy. He was part of the D-Day invasion and served until WW II was over. Hubert married Frances Beatrice Lenning on October 16, 1948 in Trinity Lutheran Church. They farmed until 1969 when Hubert was employed by Iowa Beef Packers in Humboldt. He retired in 1984. Hubert was a member of the Western Fraternal Order Association and Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling to be with family.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years; son John Mesicek of Palm Springs, CA; daughter Nilene (Frank) White of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David, grandson Adam and two sisters Anna Jondle & Carrie Stanek.
