August 11, 1926 --- November 19, 2010

Kenneth Severson, 84, of Eaton, Colo., died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at the Windsor Healthcare Center, following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s disease.

Ken was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Thor, Iowa, to Ed and Hannah (Hobberstead) Severson. He graduated from Thor High School in 1944. He played on the Thor Cardinals softball team and farmed in the Thor area. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1946 and served aboard the USS Princeton. He married Betty Dramalis on Feb. 22, 1948. They celebrated their 43rd anniversary just prior to her death in 1991. The Seversons moved to Longmont, Colo., in 1968, and Ken held various positions in chemical and fertilizer sales before moving to Eaton in 1976. He retired in 1998. As a lifelong workaholic, he continued to do handyman work and stayed busy with traveling, gardening, square dancing and polka dancing. He could most often be found tinkering in his shop and working on all of his special finds from the auctions. He could fix or repair anything, as long as he had his duct tape. He was an avid fisherman and always looked forward to his Canada fishing trips with family and friends. He and his best friend and partner of 12 years, Annabeth Fawcett, owned a winter home in Tucson, Ariz., where they loved to visit the casinos and play the slots. Ken was a member of Algiers United Methodist Church in Eaton, American Legion, Sons of Norway and Moose Lodge.

Mr. Severson is survived by Annabeth Fawcett; three children, Thomas Severson of Lewiston, Idaho, Kristine (Roger) Williams of Rapid City, S.D., and James (Shawn) Severson of Craigmont, Idaho; and three grandchildren, Andrew Severson of Pullman, Wash., Hannah Severson of Spokane, Wash., and Leah (Aaron) Hart of Moscow, Idaho. He also is survived by a sister, Magle Jansen (John Bosch); a brother, Richard (Alice) Severson; nieces; nephews; other family members; and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Adamson Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer Assoc. in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Service, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634
