POPLAR GROVE, IL - Isel June King, 93, of Poplar Grove died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Hospice Care of Northeastern Illinois in Woodstock. Born June 10, 1917, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Albert R. and Myrtle (Henry) Lewellyn. Isel attended high school in Clarion. She moved to Chicago to work as a waitress in a tea room, where she met John E. King. They were married three months later, on Sept. 5, 1937, in Clarion. Isel was a homemaker and lived in Poplar Grove since 1968. She was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She served as financial secretary of the church and helped with many church dinners and funeral luncheons. Survivors include sons, Jerry (Lorilee) King of Rhinelander, Wis., and John (Anne) King of Greensboro, N.C.; daughters, Linda King of Fox Lake and Becky (Robb) Edwards of Poplar Grove; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Lewellyn of Clarion. Predeceased by parents; husband; brothers; Donald, Verne and Lyle; sisters, Vera, Mary and Ruth. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Cynthia Bacon officiating. Visitation from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday in the church. Memorial contributions to the church. Arrangements by Belvidere Funeral Home.
