Thomas Howard Cook, 70, of Adel, Iowa, formerly of Rockwell, Iowa, died Jan. 5, 2008. Memorial graveside services: 11 a.m. today, Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, followed by a luncheon at Rockwell Community Center.

Thomas Howard Cook, the son of Howard and Dorothy (Scace) Cook, was born April 23, 1937, in Le Mars, Iowa. Tom was raised in Primghar, Rock Falls and Rockwell and graduated from Rockwell High in 1955. He then attended the University of Iowa. On Sept. 17, 1960, Tom married Diane Christensen in Le Mars. They later moved to Rockwell, where Tom farmed and had Cook Construction Co. To this marriage four children were born: Kim (Ted) Cohrs of Clarksville, Todd (Mary) of Adel, Chad of West Des Moines and Kyle (Angie) of Ankeny. Tom was a member of the Drum & Bugle Corps of the Le Mars Jaycees, the Lions Club and the Booster Club of Rockwell.

Tom donated a historic quilt listing all the inhabitants of Corwith to the Corwith Library. The quilt was made by Tom’s greatgrandmother and other inhabitants. It was rediscovered after the death of his father, Howard, in December 1996.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dorothy Cook. Survivors include his four children and six grandchildren, Kyra Cohrs (Chris) Gilbert of Ryan, Iowa, Nik, Spencer and Alexandra Cook, all of Adel, and Owen and Ellen Cook of Ankeny; siblings, Den (Deb) of Walker and Deb (Dennis) Scholl of West Des Moines.
