Thomas Hauswirth Sr. -- Born Jan. 13, 1937, in Ottumwa, he was the son of Rolland and Neva Hauswirth. He married Betty Bryant. Mr. Hauswirth worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant from 1968 to 1973. He also worked as a cab driver in Mason City. He was a 1955 graduate of Corwith High School, attended Southeastern Community College and graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. He was of the Southern Baptist faith. He was a former member of Long Creek Conservation Club and an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Allan Hauswirth of Mason City and Thomas Hauswirth Jr. of Burlington; two daughters, Diane Carlson of Mason City and Treva Robison of Burlington; three grandchildren; one brother, Charpel Hauswirth of Corwith; and two sisters, Ellen Lark of Annandale, Minn., and Shirley Galloway of Fresno, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be no visitation or service for Mr. Hauswirth. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated.
