Phyllis M. Wenman, 53, of Geneseo, Ill. died March 14 at home after a six year battle of ovarian cancer. Mass of Christian burial was held March 16 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Iowa City, Iowa, with the Rev. Walter Helms serving as celebrant. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Coralville, Iowa. She was born Aug. 5, 1951 in Pontiac, Ill., the daughter of LeRoy and Belva (Parsons) Schulz. She was a graduate of Corwith Iowa High School and the University of Iowa, receiving a BBA degree in accounting. She was a controller for Lake Forest Academy from Sept. 1997 to May 2002. She was a former member of St. Mary of Vernon Hill Catholic Church, Hawthorne Distict 73 School Board in Vernon Hills and a current member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. She enjoyed quilting and her son's sporting events.

She is survived by her sons, Matthew and Andrew Wenman; daughter, Danielle (Matt) Kalinsky of Dunlap, Ill.; her father, LeRoy Schulz of Iowa; five brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her mother and brother, Howard. Memorials may be left to St. Mary's of Vernon Hill Catholic Church, Vernon Hills High School or St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. Arrangements were made by Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, Ill.
