A. WADDELL DIES AT EAGLE GROVE

Had Retired From Business; Is Survived by Wife and Daughter

EAGLE GROVE, Jan. 14 -- A. Waddell, 66, citizen here for many years, died suddenly at his residence Monday evening. He leaves a wife and daughter; two brothers, T. J. and W. W., here; a brother Hiram in Los Angeles, and a stepson in South Dakota. The funeral has not been arranged. He was formerly in the dray business, but has been retired for about 15 years.

Pioneer Contractor at Eagle Grove Is Taken

A. H. Waddell, pioneer contractor at Eagle Grove, passed away suddenly at his home a week ago
Monday afternoon from a heart attack. He died before a doctor could be summoned. Mr. Waddell had made his home in Eagle Grove most of his life and had been in good health up to the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and three children: Charles of Temrick, S. Dak., Mrs. Lillian North of Beloit, Wisconsin and Emma, a teacher in the Des Moines public schools.

A. H. Waddell was born in Boston, Mass., June 12, 1864. His parents were John and Margaret Waddell. He died Monday, Jan. 12, 1931, aged 60 years and 7 months. He came to Iowa with his parents when he was 11 years of age and has made Eagle Grove his home most of his life. He was one of a family of 13 children. His father and mother and three brothers have preceded him to the great beyond. About 42 years ago he was united in marriage with Ida Foster and to this union two children were born, Charles Waddell of Temrick, North Dakota, and Mrs. Lillian North of Beloit, Wis. Following Mrs. Waddell's death, Mr. Waddell was united in marriage with May Wright on Feb. 20, 1899. To this union was born one daughter, Emma Waddell, a teacher in the Des Moines Public schools. Surving Mr. Waddell are his wife and three children, one step-son J. J. Wright of Highmore, South Dakota; four brothers Thos. J and W. W. of Eagle Grove, Fred of North Dakota, and Hiram of Venice, Calif., five sisters; Mrs. Evert Purinton, Temrick, North Dakota, Mrs. L. Stockwell, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Florence McKinney, Los Angeles, Mrs. F. Hall, Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Dart O'Conner, Jewell.

Mr. Waddell was a man who was held in the highest regard by his associates. He was fair and square in his business dealings and was as straight as the moral law. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist church where he was a loyal worker and substantial contributor. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows.
