BRITT, IA -- Lloyd R. Pletcher, 85, died Friday (Jan. 17, 1997) at the Hancock County Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. James A. Mattson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ewing Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to service at the church. A Masonic Lodge service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Ewing Funeral Chapel.

Lloyd, the son of Winton and Enna Reitz Pletcher, was born March 7, 1911 in Wright County near Kanawha. He attended country schools. He was united in marriage with Florence Hecker Aug. 17, 1932 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed near Hayfield, Corwith, and Garner. In 1959 they moved to a farm near Kanawha until they retired and moved into Kanawha in 1973. Lloyd drove truck for several different companies from 1974 until 1979. The couple wintered in Texas. On June 4, 1984 Florence passed away. Lloyd was united in marriage with Ruth Johnson on July 1, 1985 at Kanawha. The couple made their home in Texas. Following the death of Ruth, he return to the Britt area on May 1, 1990, where he lived until moving to Forest Haven Apartments in Forest City. Lloyd was a member of First Lutheran Church of Britt, a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, and the Silver Stars Senior Citizens Club of Britt. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Canada.

Lloyd is survived by a son, Don and his wife Vivian of Britt; six grandchildren, Diane Eisenman of Britt, Linda Hildman and husband Luke of Britt, John and special friend Darlene of Britt, Connie of Ankeny, Bonnie Vavik and husband Bill of Britt, Ron and wife Lilia of San Jose, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three brothers, Leonard of Dodge Center, Minn., Howard and wife Evelyn of Alexander, Minn., Bob and wife Irene of Forest City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Florence and Ruth, and one sister Mildred Johnson.
