MASON CITY, IA - John Schulte, 84, of Mason City, died Friday (Nov. 24, 1995) at Iowa Odd Fellows Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Alexander Reformed Church, with the Rev. Gerald Norman officiating. Burial will be in the Alexander Cemetery. Sietsma-Vogel Funeral Home, Latimer, is in charge of the arrangements.
John Schulte was born May 23, 1911, at Alexander, one of five children of Henry and Grace (Pals) Schulte. Graduating from Alexander High School in 1929, he entered into farming. He married Miriam Packard in 1933. They were the parents of four daughters. In addition to farming, John developed a substantial insurance agency; became a leading seed corn salesman for Pioneer for 35 years, and managed the bank in Alexander for many years. He was recognized in 1988 by the Alexander Community Club for 50 years of dedicated service to the Alexander community.
His wife, Miriam died February, 1969. He married Marge McKee in February, 1971. John and Marge moved from the farm near Alexander to Mason City in 1986. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Schulte, Mason City; four daughters, Edith McClure, Klemme, Sharon Anderson, Ames, Jeanine Hettinga, Des Moines, and Suzanne Bridges, Lake Mills; three stepdaughters, Dorothy Harman, Plymouth, Betty Christensen, Ventura, and Joyce Toppin, Clear Lake; one sister, Hennetta Modderman, Mason City; and 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one brother, two sisters and four stepgrandchildren.
