January 27, 1930 -- April 22, 1998

DES MOINES, IA — Clarence J. "Pete" Larsen, 68, lifelong resident and businessman of Klemme, died Wednesday (April 22, 1998) at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. C.J. "Pete" Larsen was born Jan. 27, 1930, the son of Clarence A. and Rosa M. Larsen. C.J. graduated from Klemme High School and Iowa State University. Upon graduation, he served as an officer in the Korean War, earning a Bronze Star. C.J. then returned to Klemme as owner-operator of Larsen’s Grocery Store and Meat Market and Larsen’s Stockyards and Cattle Company. C.J. also served as mayor of Klemme and as a member of the school board. C.J. is survived by a wife, two daughters, a son, two stepchildren, a grandson and a sister. A private family service is being held in the Chicago area. The family asks that any memorial gifts be sent to the National Cancer Foundation in his name.
