Mrs. Luick of Belmond Dies
Daughter of Early Settlers To Be Buried Following Funeral Tuesday
Belmond, June 17. - Mrs. C. P. Luick, 54, daughter of pioneer residents, died Sunday afternoon at her home after a lingering illness. She was born March 6, 1881, at Carroll, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Val Griesy. In 1885 she came to Belmond, where her father was a pioneer minister, banker, hardware merchant and served as mayor. She taught school for several years. She was first married to George Lieuwen, who died soon after. In 1918 she was married to Chester P. Luick, son of pioneers. Surviving are her husband, mother, a brother, Cato, who manages the Griesy hardware company; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Lewis of Tracy, Minn., Mrs. George Goelz of Belmond. Funeral services will be at Sands Memorial Congregational church Tuesday afternoon in charge of the Rev. A. H. Anderson, assisted by the Rev. W. U. Leinbauch.
