CLARA CITY, MN - Evelyn Pauline Mittag, 89, of Clara City, died Wednesday at Clara City Community Care Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at the care center with the Rev. Brad Barr officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. today until time of services at the care center. Funeral arrangements are with Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Clara City.

She was born June 27, 1908, in Latimer, Iowa, to Chris and Mathilda (Timm) Thompson. She attended Latimer Public Schools and Iowa State Teachers College in Sheldon, Iowa. On June 23, 1931, she married Edwin F. Mittag at Latimer. She was a teacher, member of Busy Hoe Garden Club and Goldenrod Homemakers. Edwin died in 1983. She is survived by her son Robert (and Janyce) Mittag of Clara City, daughter Marjorie (and John) Waldron of Omaha, Neb., nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and sisters Ruth Johnson of Popejoy, Iowa, and Betty Larson of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.
