WEBSTER CITY, IA - Funeral services for 78 year old Harry L. Askvig of Webster City, who died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, are pending with the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

Harry Lyle Askvig, 78, Webster City, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

Harry Lyle Askvig was born July 6, 1925 in Goldfield, the son of Tillman B. and Rose C Borel Askvig. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, attending country school. On Jan 3. 1948, Harry was united in marriage with Elinor M. Nelson at Sioux Falls, SD. They made their home in Eagle Grove, Goldfield and moved to Webster City from Eagle Grove in 1970. Harry worked for WCI in Webster City for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and the Moose Lodge of Webster City He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards. Harry loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Elinor of Webster City; son, Randy Askvig and Jane Kuhn of Clarion, daughter Merri Raggazzo and husband Mario of Las Vegas, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, sisters Darlene Kastler and husband Larry of Woolstock, Doris Mayes and husband Bob of Des Moines; and Ardith Holtan and husband Mel of Menahga, Minn. and brothers. Merle and wife Beverly of Eagle Grove, Harold and wife Pauline of Clarion, and Richard and wife Mary of Cody, Wyo. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Lyle Askvig in 2001; brother Jim and sisters Ida Nelson and Vera Bell Askvig.
