9 January 1917 -- 22 February 1992

Lennis W. Bloomquist, was born January 9, 1917 in Webster County, the son of Axel and Icle Bloomquist. He was educated in the Burnside area. He was married to Garnet Kraft on March 19, 1939 in Fonda. They lived in Fort Dodge while he worked for U.S. Gypsum. He entered WW II and served in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, he returned to the area and they farmed around Goldfield and Duncombe. They farmed in the Pocahontas area in 1959 and were there until retiring in 1980. They moved back to Fort Dodge. He was also an auctioneer from many years and served as secretary/treasurer for the Iowa Auctioneer Association for many years. He was also very active in the Lutheran Church, serving as Deacon and also as a Sunday School teacher. He also loved playing golf and cards. He will always be remembered for his jokes and great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Garnet, of Fort Dodge, sons, Larry of New Milford, CT, and Ronald of Mooresburg, TN, daughter Sandra Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN. six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a sister Donna Lennon, Sweet Home, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vance, who was killed in WW II.
