POMEROY, IA - Karen M. Seehusen, 68, of Pomeroy, passed away on July 18, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minn., following a brief illness. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at St. John Lutheran Church, Pomeroy, with Rev. Jim Mossman officiating. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Michael Loterbour-Powers Funeral Home, Pomeroy.

Karen Mae Heggebo was born on November 11, 1941 in Clarion to Theodore and Frances (Lamer) Heggebo. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Eagle Grove on June 18, 1944. Karen Mae graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1960. On April 23, 1961 she was united in marriage to Larry Dean Seehusen at St. John Lutheran in Pomeroy. After the wedding Karen Mae and Larry lived in Spokane, Wash. until her husband finished his military service. Upon her husband's discharge, they moved to Pomeroy where she was a homemaker and raised three children. Karen Mae enjoyed collecting and selling antiques with her husband throughout Iowa and Minnesota, traveling to Texas in the winter, and spending time with her friends. She was a very loving grandmother who spent countless days spoiling her grandchildren at every opportunity.

Karen Mae is survived by her husband, Larry Seehusen, of Pomeroy, sons Darrin Seehusen of Havelock, Darwin Seehusen of Fort Dodge, daughter Melissa Seehusen of Pomeroy, 7 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Allison Seehusen. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials left to their discretion.
