MANKATO, Minn. - Olaf M. Lund, 95, of Mankato, formerly of Hanlontown, Iowa, died Nov. 26 (1999) at the Mankato House Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Nov. 30 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato with the Rev. Steve Berkeland as officiant. Burial was in Woodland Hills Memorial Park.

Olaf M. Lund was born Aug. 18, 1904, in Stavanger, Norway, the son of Torbjorn and Anna (Nasheim) Lund. He grew up in Stavanger, and moved to America in 1924 at the age of 20. He worked for his cousin in Thor, Iowa, until going to Chicago two years later. He married Thelma Bray on Aug. 27, 1933, in Albert Lea, Minn. They made their home in Hanlontown where he worked as a bulk agent for Standard Oil Company until retirement in 1964. In 1966, they moved to Mankato where they had lived since. He enjoyed traveling to Norway and had done so several times after his retirement. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma, of Mankato; two daughters, Margaret Johnson and her husband, Gerald, of Mankato, and Betty Parsons and her husband, Robert, of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Woodland Hills Funeral Home, Mankato, was in charge of arrangements.
