MASON CITY - Marcella A. Larsen, 65, of 651 Sixth St. SE, died Saturday (July 24, 1999) at her home from complications due to lupus. Funeral services will be held at 10.30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Craig Larsen, of Red Oak Assembly of God, Red Oak, and the Rev. David Anderson, of St. James Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. in the church chapel Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the Marcella A. Larsen Memorial fund.

Marcella was born at home on a farm west of Kensett March 4, 1934, the daughter of Clifford C. and Clara A. (Bakken) Seter. She was baptized at home four days later. At 9 years of age, her family moved to a farm northwest of Osage. Marcella was confirmed May 23, 1948, at Osage Lutheran Church where the confirmation hymn was "Lead On." She attended grade school and graduated from high school in Mitchell. Marcella married Clifford R. Larsen Nov. 29, 1952, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage. For their first six years of marriage, they farmed east of Klemme. In 1970, they moved to Mason City from Hampton and have lived here since then. Marcella was a paraprofessional at Madison Elementary School, working in the special needs area until her health began to fail. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and church circle.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford R. Larsen, of Mason City; her children, Linda Viet and her husband, Dennis, of Hampton, Karen Estep and her husband, Craig, of Ankeny, Craig Larsen and his wife, Dari, of Red Oak, and Mike Larsen and his wife, Chris, of George; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Janson and her husband, Edgar, of Belmond, and Mildred Jennings and her husband, Francis, of Orchard; and a brother, Clifford Seter Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Charles City. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Joshua.
