GILMAN, IL - Geraldine W. "Geri" Reighel, 87, of Gilman, formerly of Hanover and Freeport, died at 2:20 a.m. yesterday (Oct. 3, 1989) at St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee, after a short illness. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gilman, the Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Gilman Cemetery, Gilman. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Reighel was born March 22, 1902, at Danforth, a daughter of Udo and Elizabeth Johnson Smid. She married Edward Rall in 1942. He died in 1958. Her marriage to Herb W. Reighel was July 24, 1965, at Anchor. He survives. Other survivors include one brother, Henry Smid, Concord, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Gloria Reitz, Gilman; three stepgrandchildren; and one step great granddaughter. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Reighel was reared in Klemme, Iowa, and attended schools there. For 12 years, she was employed in the Burgess Battery Factory, Freeport. She lived in Hanover for 16 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund or to the Gilman Cemetery Association.
