Glenn V. Lewis - Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Died peacefully at Mission Skilled Nursing Facility in Santa Clara on August 7, 2009 at age 88, a week after taking a bad fall. Glenn was born on February 23, 1921, to Verner and Lena Lewis in McGregor, Iowa. He grew up doing farm work in Klemme, Iowa, until he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1941. He was deployed to the South Pacific, where he served honorably in New Caledonia, the Solomon Islands, and other locations. After completing active duty, Glenn married June Elaine Spencer in San Anselmo in December, 1945. They lived in Seattle and then near Santa Rosa, where their son Kerry was born in 1948. Glenn worked for many years in Sonoma County at sawmills, on construction jobs, and in his own lawn care business. After Glenn and June divorced, he married Sue Penry and lived with her in Healdsburg. After her death in 1991, he moved to Upper Lake, in Lake Co. Glenn leaves two sisters, Evelyn Wickard and Luella Johnson; his son and daughter-in-law Kerry and Elizabeth Lewis of Santa Clara; grandchildren David Lewis, Alan Lewis, and Elsa Carvalho and husband Robert; and great-grandchildren Claudia and Monique Carvalho and Gracie Lewis; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who will miss his long, late-night phone calls. Glenn's immediate family will remember him in a private memorial. Interment will be at Hartley Cemetery, Lakeport, CA.
