Theodore Johnson, 95, of Fort Dodge died August 31, 2000 at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Gustafson, pastor of First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, officiating. Committal services were at the Belmond Cemetery at Belmond later that afternoon.
Theodore Johnson was born January 8, 1905, near Cloquet, MN. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1922 and Iowa State Teachers College in 1933. He married Helen Bork in 1936 in Fort Dodge. He received his masters degree from Iowa State University in 1941. He taught in Belmond and later became superintendent of schools there. In 1947, they purchased the Falls Cafe at Granite Falls, MN. In 1952, he became production manager for a family owned dairy chemical company. He retired in 1980. He was a member of the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, the Za Ga Zig Shriners, Advocate for Handicapped, Elks and Friends of the Library.
Theodore was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents, Samuel and Mary Halverson Johnson; brothers, William and Leonard; and sisters, Olga, Sophie, Helen and Magdalene. He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, William S. Johnson of Coralville, Winston B. Johnson of Santa Rosa, CA; brothers, Paul Johnson of Burnsville, MN, and Henry Johnson of Belmond.
