Connie Lou Darling Hayes, 37, died of complications following a bone marrow transplant, Thursday, Sept. 14, at University of Iowa Hospital. Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Grace United Methodist Church in Des Moines with burial at Rising Sun Cemetery.

Connie Darling was born in Denver, CO, September 28, 1962. She lived with her family in Boulder, CO, for six years; and in 1969 they moved to Belmond where she attended school and graduated in 1981. She was active in band, Thespians and National Honor Society. She graduated from Iowa State University with a MIS Business degree. Connie worked for Mutual of Omaha for 1 1/2 years. She married Jeffrey Hayes in May of 1987, moved to Des Moines and worked for Communication Data Services as a Systems Account Analyst for the past 13 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and active in her church.
Surviving are her husband, Jeffrey Hayes; daughters, Jessica 10, Sarah, 8, of Des Moines; parents, Carroll and Joy Darling of Rockwell City; brother, Curtis Darling of Urbandale; sister, Cindy Darling of San Diego, CA.
