Carol Palm, 97, of Belmond, died Saturday, Sept, 23, 2000 at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond with Rev. Rod Hopp officiating. Burial was at North Prairie Center near Scarville. Music was provided by Eldoris Bunnell, organist; Shelly Turner, vocalist. Ushers were Loren Bamford and Francis Morris. Casket bearers were Tom Hill, Rex Boyd, Dr. A.F. Benetti, Wilmer Gabrielson, Gary Berkland and Al Olson.

Carol Solmonson, the daughter of Solomon and Serene Martinson Solmonson was born August 5, 1903, at Lake Mills. She was baptized and confirmed at the North Prairie Lutheran Church near Scarville. She attended Waldorf College and began a teaching career. She was united in marriage to Harry Palm on August 13, 1939, at the North Prairie Lutheran Church near Scarville. His teaching career took them to Dows for 13 years, to Lake City for 22 years and they retired to Belmond in 1976. She was very artistic and loved music, she learned to play the pump organ, made many quilts, knitted sweaters for the church to send overseas, did many pencil sketches, and was an avid bird watcher. In failing health she entered the Belmond Health Care Center.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harry in 1999; half-brothers, Helmer Twito, Emlet Twito, Archie Twito; and a half-sister, Isabel Greene. Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jan Palm of Spencer, Warren Palm and Bunny Seymour of Decorah; grandchildren, Kari Roskens, Lisa Palm, Julie Palm; three great grandchildren, Kalei, Brandt and Alex Roskens; sisters, Cathryn Gullixson of Minneapolis, MN, Evelyn Matson of Amery, WI; brothers, John Solmonson of Lake Mills and Milford Solmonson of Amery, WI.
