Mike Luick, 55, Belmond, died October 12 in Gainsville, GA. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 2:30 p.m. and Scripture Service at 7 p.m. all at Tenold Funeral Home in Belmond.

Michael M. Luick, 55, died of a heart attack on Thursday, October 12, 2000 in N.E. Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. The funeral mass was held on Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond. Fr. David Beckman and Deacon Nick Schmit officiated the service. Eucharistic ministers were Hugh Kopriva and Dick and Linda Kehrt. The lector was Dick Kehrt. Altar Servers were Dan and Rachel Barrett. Interment was at St. Francis Cemetery, Belmond. Music was provided by Janet Pals, organist and Jon Barrett, cantor. Ushers were Kevin Knoll and John Knoll. Casket bearers were Tom Luick, Mike Steilen, Donald Shaw, Jason Pals, Darren Lawrence and Bill Frey.

Michael, son of R. Cortland and Lucille (Glamen) Luick was born November 19, 1944 in Belmond. He attended Belmond High School and graduated in 1963. He married Mary Lynne Knoll on December 23, 1967. They lived in the Des Moines area before settling in Belmond in 1988. Mike worked for Ennis Truck Lines the past 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Quentin Pals, and his father, R. Cortland Luick. Survivors include his wife, Mary, his five children: Michelle and her husband, Darren Laurence of Jacksonville, FL, Deborah and her husband, Michael Steilen of Boston, MA, Thomas Luick and his wife, Rachel of Chicago, IL, Andrea and her husband, Jason Pals of Alexander, IA, and Amy Luick of Belmond; seven granddaughters: Emily Lawrence, Danielle, Alexandra, Madison and Cameron Steilen, Hanna and Maggie Pals; his mother, Lucille Luick of Belmond; sisters: Mary and her husband, Don Shaw of Belmond, and Helen and her husband, Bill Frey of Chicago, IL, many other relatives and friends.
