Nancy Lee Barkema, 50, Mason City, died January 11 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Services were held January 15 at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. She was born November 3, 1950, in Ft. Dodge, the daughter of Leland and Eleanor Payne Seeberger. The family moved to Mason City when Nancy was 9 and she graduated from Mason City High School. She worked for Northwestern Bell. On December 1, 1984 she married Dean Barkema in Mason City. For the past seven years she worked as a consultant for Creative Memories. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran church council and was a youth leader. She was active in Girls Scouts and was a leader and unit manager. She enjoyed reading, genealogy, and collecting bears.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her father-in-law, Junior Barkema. Survivors include her husband, daughter Laura Lee at home, stepson Jim Barkema and wife Lisa of Mason City, sister Sue Neufeld of Colorado springs, and mother-in-law Viola Barkema of Belmond.
