A resident of Clarion who worked many years at General Mills and Central Soya.

Paul Harvey Loomis died on Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. Memorial services were held on Friday, January 12, 2001 at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Kellogg officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Clarion.

Paul Harvey Loomis, the son of Frank Jay and Maude Isobelle (Barrick) Loomis was born May 10, 1919, in Merrill, Wisconsin. He graduated from Rhinelander High School in Wisconsin and received a certificate in dairy science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Paul enlisted in the US Army in 1941 and served with Company F, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division. He served in Africa and Italy, was at Anzio four months, and participated in the drive on Rome. He was awarded the Bronze Star for the Italian campaign, a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Combat Infantryman's Badge. On January 9, 1943, Paul married Betty Jean Littlefield in Clarion. Paul was employed by General Mills in Belmond until 1964, when the plant was purchased by Central Soya. He worked for Central Soya until his retirement in 1983. Paul was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clarion for almost 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, David Paul, and his brother, Manfred. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean of Clarion, daughter, Carol Jean Bank of Portage, WI; granddaughters, Kristina (Mrs. Shawn) Simonsen of Peoria, IL, and Melody Bank of Portage, WI; his sister, Audrey (Mrs. Harvey) Knutson of Lake Stevens, WA; and nine nieces and nephews.
