Roger Dean Shahan, 63, of Ames, died from cancer on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Family graveside services will be held later with Pastor David Burling officiating. He was cremated and burial will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames. Roger was born on July 1, 1937, at Belmond, son of Stanley W. and Edith (Johnson) Shahan. He had been an Ames resident since 1969. His occupation was in meat sales for 31 years; was a self-employed furniture refinisher the past 12 years. He married Janet Slining in June of 1956; married Mary (Hosmer) Perrin on December 31, 1982. Hobbies included woodcraft and auto racing. Preceding him in death were his father, Stanley W. Shahan in 2000. Survivors are his wife Mary of Ames; 3 sons, Timothy and Bruce Shahan of Ames, Dale Shahan of Huxley; two daughters, Diane Spear of Ames, and Jane Wilder of Gilbert; brother, Allen Shahan of Yarnell, AZ; sister, Karen Benson of Lubbock, TX; mother, Edith (Johnson) Shahan of Ames; eight stepchildren, Mike, Chris, and Richard Perrin of Ames, Craig Perrin of Houston, TX, John Perrin, Lisa Audlehelm and Chuck Perrin of Carroll, Debra Perrin of Boone; 20 grandchildren.
