Fred Cornelious Steenhard, 73, of Owatonna, MN, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at the Owatonna hospital. Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 12, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery near Sheffield.

Fred Steenhard was born October 31, 1927, in Franklin County, son of K.D. and LaBena (VanHorn) Steenhard. He was a member of the U.S. Navy from April 1945 to August 1946. Fred then lived in Belmond and at Fairbault, MN, before moving to Dodge Center in 1979 where he worked for McNeilus Manufacturing. On June 30, 1981, he married Emma Olson in Dodge Center. They lived in Dodge Center and Northfield before moving to Owatonna in 1991. Fred was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, camping and crafts. He is preceded in death by a daughter; two brothers; and five sisters. Survivors are his wife Emma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Brenda Steenhard of Clarion, Daryl and Anna Steenhard of Richland, OR; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzette and John Jacobs of Battle Creek, MI; a stepdaughter and her husband, Darlene and Richard Kuhnert of Northfield, MN; a stepson and his wife, James and Carol Olson of Hayfield; four sisters, Jennie LaRue of Alexander, LaVonne Brager of Ventura, Wilma Schultz of Plainview, Kurna Neve of Rockwell; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-children; five step-great grandchildren; and two step-great-great grandchildren.
