E. Clifton Gourley, Jr., 79, of Schaumburg, IL, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Addison, IL. Graveside services will be held at noon, Sunday, July 23, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church cemetery in Belmond (one mile north on 69 and four miles west on the blacktop). He retired from the Milwaukee Railroad after 37 years. Clifton was preceded in death by his parents, Austa and Elry Gourley of Mason City; two brothers, Leroy of Minneapolis, MN, and Richard of Mason City. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucille (Nelson), formerly of Belmond; four daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Tack of Shorewood, IL, Lynette (Larry) Dauphin of McAlister, OK, Marilyn Lucia of San Diego, CA, Pamela (Mark) Bittner of Wood Dale, IL; foster daughter Marrianne (Robert) Laskay of Westchester, IL; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Verlyn of Mason City, and Phillip of Yuma, AZ; two sisters, Mary Woodward of Rockford, IA, and Phyllis Entner of Clear Lake.
