DINGMAN, BRIGHT, BRANNON, KEPLER

Francis Dingman was born in Ontario Province, Canada, May 1, 1844, died at his house in Leon, Iowa, April 14, 1926; aged 81 years, 11 months and 13 days. In August 1861, he enlisted in Co. 1, 27th Vol. Inf., at Annawan, Henry county, Illinois, and served his country three years during the war of the Rebellion. He was honorably discharged from service in August 1864. On Nov. 21, 1870, at Atkinson, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Mary Kepler. To this union 9 children were born, four having preceded him in death. Those living are; Mrs Josephine Bright, of Decatur City, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Brannon, of Leon, Iowa; Vernie Dingman, of Garden Grove, Iowa; Charles Dingman, of Des Moines, Iowa; and Marion Dingman of Kellerton, Iowa. He was a member of the Christian church, also an honored member of the G. A. R. Mr. Dingman lived in Leon 31 years, where he has always been an honest, upright and honored citizen. Besides his aged companion and children, he leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the Christian church, Friday, at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Chas. A. Burkhart. Interment in Palestine cemetery.
