Willis "Bud" Schwartz, 71, of Boone, Iowa died of cancer on Sunday, Feb. 3, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. The body had been cremated and memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 8, at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone with Reverend Dr. Ron Franklin officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 1:30 p.m., on Friday in the Cass Township Cemetery near Webster City.

He was born in Boone on February 11, 1930, the son of Paul and Alma (Maakestad) Schwartz. He graduated from Boone High School in 1949. He served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Air Force. He married LeVilla (Lester) Brown on August 16, 1958 in Webster City. In earlier years, he worked for Fareway Stores Inc., both in Boone and Webster City and the former George A. Rolfes Co., in Boone. Later, he was employed as a custodian for DMACC Boone Campus for 15 years where he retired in 1992. He was a member of the VFW Post in Boone.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother William. He is survived by his wife LeVilla "VI" of Boone; three sons and two daughters-in-law Rick Brown of Boone, Doug and Joyce Brown of Webster City, and Jeff and Julie Schwartz of Storm Lake; a brother-in-law George Lester Jr., of Russellville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren Ross, Marcy, and Elizabeth Brown and Josh, Siera, Molly, and Amy Schwartz; a great granddaughter Alli Borer.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
