January 19, 1997WEBSTER CITY, IA -- Mary Griffin, 96, of Webster City, died Saturday (Jan. 18, 1997) at her home, northeast of Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home 800 Willson, Webster City, with the Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, north of Webster City. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home and until service time Monday.
Mary Anna Miller, daughter of Edward and Katie Singer Miller, was born Oct. 11, 1900, on a farm, northeast of Webster City. she attended Sunnyside rural School. On July 16, 1919, she married Bryan Griffin at Webster City. The couple resided on a farm near Blairsburg, where they lived for 22 years. In March of 1942 the family moved to a farm ear Buffalo Center, residing there for 19 years. In 1961, the family moved to the Miller family farm nine miles northeast of Webster City. They retired in 1967. Mr. Griffin died in January of 1981. She continued to reside on the family farm. She was a former member of the Mulberry United Methodist Church, the Mulberry Helping Hand Club and the Buffalo Center Sunshine Birthday Club and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Webster City.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her daughter, Ruth Adams of Webster City; two sons, Lee and Dolores Griffin of Buffalo Center and Ray Griffin of Webster City; one son-in-law, Glen Gilbert of Webster City; six grandchildren, Jim Adams of Webster City, Mike Adams of Dodge Center, Minn., Amy Kleckner of Altoona, Bryan Gilbert of Webster City, Julie Christianson of Eden Prairie, Minn., Edward Griffin of Buffalo Center; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Gilbert; two grandchildren; a brother, Edward Miller; four sisters, Erma, Thressa and Jessie Miller and Rosy Berleen.
