The Daily Freeman Journal -- Webster City, IowaClaude W. Willson, 84, of Webster City, died Monday, May 24, 2010 at Southfield Wellness Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Foster Chapel, with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating.Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, north of Webster City. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191.Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday.
Claude Wesley Willson, son of Frank and Lexie Wood Willson, was born January 12, 1926 at Madelia, MN. He received his education in the Webster City school system. During W.W. II, he served with the U. S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Action.On August 29, 1948, he married Etheldra Theone Hudson at Webster City.The couple resided in Webster City. He had been employed at Morton Frozen Foods, as a residential painter, operated the East Second Street D-X service station with his brother, Rich and in 1988, retired from Electrolux. Mrs. Willson died February 22, 2000.
Claude is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Karen Peterson, Wes and Kim Willson, all of Webster City; Dennis and Diana Willson of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Chelsea Willson of Bellingham, WA; Richard Willson of Webster City; Larry Willson of Des Moines; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and Russell Willson; sisters, Virginia Abramson and Eva Eilleen McAlister. He was a member of American Legion Post # 191, United Auto Workers Local # 442, Webster City Saddle Club and loved horses and camping.
