Mrs Jennie DeVries Meyer, who has made her home on the farm seven miles north of Blairsburg for the past thirty years, died Wednesday, August 31st, and was buried Saturday, September 3rd.

Mrs Meyer was visiting her daughter, Mrs Walter West in Hancock, Minn., at the time of her death. She was sick only three days, her death resulting from apoplexy. She was brought to Blairsburg Friday and the funeral was held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock.

Jennie DeVries Meyer was born in Emdem, Amtanrich, Germany, in 1846; came to the United States in 1862 and settled in Freeport, Ill. She was married to Johann Heinrich Meyer in 1863. They came to Grundy county, Iowa, in 1872, where they lived one year and then settled on a farm seven miles north of Blairsburg. Mr Meyer died in 1889. To them ten children were born, nine of whom are living. They are: Aeijelt, Ernest, John, Henry, Mrs Will West, all of Blairsburg; Mrs. G.A. Schutt and Mrs. Carl Harris of Clarion; Mrs. Will Schutt of Clontarf, Minn; Mrs. Walter West of Hancock, Minn.
