FORT DODGE, IA - Josephine Dean, 85, of 2806 Fourth Ave. N., Fort Dodge, died Monday (Oct. 23, 2000) at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Mel Ammon officiating. Burial will be in the Newark Township Cemetery in rural Vincent. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Josephine B. Klunder was born June 15, 1915, in Elberon, Iowa. She attended school in Mason City, graduating from Mason City High School in 1933. On Aug. 8, 1933, she married Leonard Dean and after their marriage the couple lived in Mason City. She worked for Kastles Cap & Gown in Clear Lake, until her retirement in 1976. In 1986 they moved to Fort Dodge. After their retirement they spent their summers at their cabin on Woman Lake in Northern Iowa until the last two years. Her hobbies included crafts, playing cards, and she loved to fish. On Aug. 2, 2000, she moved into the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge, the National Degree of Honor, where she had served as president for the Mason City Chapter. She was also a member of the Fort Dodge Women's Club.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Dean, of Fort Dodge; her two sisters, Dorothy Kolpek, of Silver Lake, Minn., and Charlene Wedmore, of Tempe, Ariz.; her two grandsons, Dave and Richard Minikis, both of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ann (Chezik) Klunder; her daughter, Shirley Minikis; and a sister, Marge Petra. Gunderson Funeral Home.
