MRS. BROUGHTON DIES IN CITY

Funeral services for Mrs. Almira I. Broughton, 79, will be held at the McCauley-Chapman funeral home, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. R. C. Kooy officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. Mrs. Broughton died Sunday morning at 1:30 at Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient for more than three months.

Almira Isabelle Hoag, daughter of James and Mary Draper Hoag was born June 21, 1871 at Blairsburg. She received her education and grew to young woman hood in this community and with the exception of four years had lived in this vicinity all her life. June 5, 1895 she was married to Ferguson Hart. One son, Charles, was born to this union, but died in infancy. In October 1918, she was married to George Broughton who preceded her in death August 24, 1936. Mrs. Broughton was a charter member of the Wesleyan Methodist church at Blairsburg, but for the last 30 years had been a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City. She taught in the rural schools of this county for several years and was engaged in practical nursing work for some time. She was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans and the WCTU. Mrs. Broughton is survived by two nieces, one nephew and several grand-nieces and nephews. A kingly, neighborly woman, Mrs. Broughton had made many friends during her long residence in this community. She was especially active in church work, her home and her church being her main interests in life.
