Richard Dirl Hiltabidle, 57 of Queen City, MO passed away at his home on Saturday, June 12, 2010. The son of Richard Eugene and Wanema Elaine (Mace) Hiltabidle, he was born on July 2, 1952 in Leon, Iowa. He received his Associates Degree in Nursing from Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1988, he started working at Laughlin Pavilion in Kirksville, MO until its closing. His most recent employment was with Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly, MO. Due to health conditions from Cystic Fibrosis, he was unable to work in the nursing field, which he certainly enjoyed.

Survivors include his fiancee, Donna Small of Queen City, MO; her four children whom he included as his own, Carna Jackson and husband, Reed of Chesapeake, VA, Gabriel Small of Ft. Stewart, Georgia, Aaron Small and wife, Rachel of Wyaconda, MO and Joshua Small of Independence, MO; 5 grandchildren, Teagan and Ronan Jackson, Anthony, Andrea and Matthew Meyer; his "redentical" brother, John Peterson of Eagle Grove, IA; 3 uncles, Terry Hiltabidle and wife, Sharon of Trier, IA, Larry Hiltabidle and wife, Laura Nell of Wavely, MO and Darrel Mace and wife of Osceola, IA; 1 aunt, Diana Thomas of Germantown, TN; 2 nieces, Kimberly and Katlin Hiltabidle of Eagle Grove, IA; Richard's two companion dogs, "Skye" and "Lizzie"; 4 sisters-in-law, Dorene Russell and husband, Jerry of Queen City, MO, Shirley Gardner of Lancaster, MO, Becky Howe and husband, Bob of Novinger, MO, Cathy Vincent and husband, Rick of Queen City, MO; 1 brother-in-law, Stanley Martin and wife, Marcia of Lancaster, MO and their families; 1 brother, Thomas Hiltabidle and wife, Mary of Eagle Grove, IA and their children, Matthew, Aaron and Mindy; many cousins and other family members. His parents; 1 sister, Kila Hiltabidle and 1 brother, Steve Hiltabidle, preceded Richard in death.

Richard was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church of Lancaster, MO. He was also a member of the Missouri Cystic Fibrosis Association and had given many speeches concerning the disease. He attended fundraisers for C.F. in West Plains, MO and Mountain Home, AK when his health permitted. Over the years through the University of Missouri Hospital, he participated in research of new medications for treating Cystic Fibrosis. Richard was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He loved to watch sports and play slow pitch softball with a team in Iowa and Laughlin Pavilion team in Kirksville, MO. He attended the Orange Bowl in Florida in January, 2010 to watch the Hawkeye's play. He and his buddy, "Pete" made many trips to St. Louis, MO to watch Cardinal games. Many friends and family both in Iowa and Missouri will miss him. Memorial servies will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO with Steve Altheide, Pastor of the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, MO officiating. Special CD selections of "If You Wanna Get To Heaven" and "Spirit In The Sky" will be performed. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO. Memorials have been established for the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Missouri. Burial will be at a later date as the body has been cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO
