Kathryn Broughton Is Summoned
Aged Lady Passes Away After Brief Illness Caused From Paralytic Stroke

Mrs. Kathryn Broughton, the aged mother of Mrs. Emogene Brewer and George and Will Broughton of this city, who made her home with her two sons, passed away Wednesday night at 10:40 following a short illness caused by a paralytic stroke. Mrs. Broughton, though in her eighty-fifth year, was able to do considerable work about the home and had the use of all her facilities until about 10 o'clock Monday night, when she sustained the stroke of paralysis. She suffered no pain, but did not regain consciousness again. Mrs. Broughton was born in Mt. Pulaski, Ill., Jan. 29, 1832. She had lived in Webster City for twenty-one years. Her husband, Perry Broughton, passed away in this city nine years ago. One sister, Mrs. George Broughton of Taylorville, Ill., and six children are left to mourn her death: Mrs. O. G. Addleman, Springfield, Ill., John, Lincoln, Ill., Isaac, Abilene, Kans., George and will Broughton and Mrs. Emogene Brewer of this city.

The funeral services will be held from the family home 1135 Water street, this afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. C. V. Pence, pastor of the Christian church, the deceased having been a life member of this denomination. Interment will be made in the Cass Center Cemetery.
