Death of Perry Broughton
Last night at 10:30 O'clock occurred the death of Perry Broughton, an aged resident of this city; at his home on Bank street. For the past two years deceased had been a great suffer from rheumatism and two weeks ago he was compelled to take to his bed with a severe attack of heart trouble. It was this latter ailment which caused his demise. Mr. Broughton was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1825, thus being 82 years at the time of his death. When but a lad he came with his parents to Lincoln, Ill. In the year 1857 he was united in marriage at Pulaski, Ill., to Miss Catharine Moore [editor - FRAKES], who survives her husband. In 1896, the family moved to a farm three miles north of town and three years later came to this city, where they have since made their home.
Beside the wife there are left to mourn the father's death, six children. Mrs. A. W. Brewer, G. E. Broughton, and Wm. Broughton of Hastings, Neb., J. C. Broughton of Lincoln, Ill., and Mrs. O. G. Addelman of Springfield, Ill. Deceased was a member of the Christian Church of this city and was a man who enjoyed the respect and esteem of all those with whom he was acquainted. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the family home on Bank street. Rev. R. M. Dungan will conduct the burial rites.
