19 March 1942Funeral services for Mrs. Emogene Brewer, 84, were held Tuesday afternoon at the McCauley-Chapman funeral home, with Rev. Dow Crewdson officiating. Burial was made in Cass Center cemetery. Mrs. Brewer died at 7 o'clock Sunday morning at 539 Division Street. She had been in failing health for two years and had been seriously ill since December.
Emogene Broughton was born at Mt. Pulaski, Ill., on March 27 1858. she grew to young womanhood there and in 1876 she was married to Albert Brewer at Lincoln, Ill. About 50 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Brewer moved to Webster City, where Mr. Brewer was in the lumber business until his health failed. Mrs. Brewer was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and a member of the 900 club. For many years, she was active in the Rebekah lodge and was always prominent in church work.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Kirk. She is survived by two sons, Don Brewer, of Nashua, and Glenn of Des Moines, three grandsons, one granddaughter, one great grandchild, and two brothers, William Broughton, of Webster City and John Broughton, of Springfield, Ill.
