Retired Farmer Dies at 77 Years
Funeral services were held at the Holmes Baptist church at 2 p.m. May 9 for Alfred Pehl, 77, retired farmer. He died Thursday morning at the Clarion hospital after an illness of two weeks. The Eyler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Ronald Rassmussen, William Rose, Derwin Lester, Robert Jacobsen, Noal Riles and Arnie Anderson.
Alfred Pehl, Sr., was born in Denmark to John Madison Pehl and Anna Marie Pehl on January 29, 1882. He departed this life May 7, 1959. He came to America as a young man. During February of 1909 he was united in marriage to Florence Pletcher. To their union were born three children, two girls and a boy. Mrs Pehl preceded him in death on October 8, 1946. For many years they farmed in Humboldt and Wright counties. Those left to mourn his passing include the children: Vioet (Mrs. Julius Jacobsen) of Thor, Iowa, Anna (Mrs. James Jorgensen) of Clarion, Alfred of Stewartville, Minnesota, one sister, Mrs. Martha Rasmussen of Glendale, California, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
