Bette L. (Watson) McCaulley, the daughter of Oved Earl and Tressa Valeata (Fisher) Watson, was born on July 19, 1922, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1940. Bette then earned her Normal Teachers Training certificate from Iowa State Teachers College and taught country school. In 1946, Bette was united in marriage with Glen McCaulley. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Glen preceded her in death in 1973. Bette worked in the Eagle Grove Schools as a teachers associate. Bette was a member of the First Baptist Church and her ancestors were charter members when the church began 120 years ago. She was a great mother – very dedicated to her family and her church. Bette also dedicated a lot of her time to the Rotary Ann Homes – delivering books and many baked goods to the residents.

Bette passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge at the age of 87 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Thomas and Mark; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Erma Watson and a sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Del Rogness. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 11, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Art Anderson and Dr. Fran Pettigrew officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Memorials may be directed to the family. Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
