Rake, Iowa — Irene Boettcher, age 98, of Rake, Iowa, died at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, in Blue Earth, on May 9, 2010. Funeral Services were held May 12, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church, in Rake. The Rev. Carlton Shaw officiated. Burial was in West Cemetery, in Rake. Winter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Lavonne) Boettcher, of Rake, and Gary (Alice) Boettcher, of Churchville, Md.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlet Rokke, of Belmond, Iowa; brother, Jarome Halvorson, of Buffalo Center, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Nella Halvorson.

Irene Boettcher, age 98, of Rake, IA, died at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, MN on May 9 2010. Funeral Services for Irene will be Wednesday May 12, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, Iowa at 11:00AM, with Rev. Carlton Shaw Officiating. Burial will be at West Cemetery in Rake, Iowa. Visitation will be Tuesday May 11, 2010 at Winter Funeral Home in Blue Earth, MN from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, IA.Irene Margaret Boettcher, daughter of Carl and Anna (Quam) Halvorson was born on May 31, 1911 in Kossuth County, Iowa. She was Baptized and Confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, Iowa. She attended Country Schools for eight years. Irene was united in marriage to Henry Boettcher on June 22, 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, Iowa. They were blessed with two sons: Ronald and Gary. Irene began working outside the home when Henry was overseas during WWII. Later, She and Henry ran a café in Rake for a number of years. They also had Boettcher Grocery Store in Rake. In her life she also worked for the grocery store in Buffalo Center, Iowa and St. Lukes in Blue Earth, MN until she retired. She entered St. Lukes in December 1995 where she lived until her death on Mother’s Day, May 9, 2010.
She is survived by her two sons: Ronald (Lavonne) Boettcher of Rake, IA; and Gary (Alice) Boettcher of Churchville, MD; grandchildren Joan (Brian) Meyer of Fairmont, MN; Julie (Duane) Davids of Lakota, IA; Shelia Boettcher (John Gust) of Harker Heights, TX; Donald (Toni) Boettcher of Baltimore, MD; Dale Boettcher of Mt. Ary, MD; great grandchildren Danielle Meyer; Dustin Meyer; Emily Davids; Alan Davids; Taylor Davids; Joshua Thomas; Caitlin Thomas; Ryan Gartland; Jami Boettcher; Rebecca Boettcher; and Tyler Boettcher; sister Arlet Rokke of Belmond, IA; brother Jarome Halvorson of Buffalo Center, IA; and sister-in-law Nella Halvorson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry; brothers: Orin Halvorson; and Glen Halvorson; sisters: Mabel Hansen; Ora Boettcher; Cora Boettcher; Genevieve Matheson; Esther Larson; and Bernice Matheson; and grandson Mark Allen Boettcher.
