Otto L. Hanson, 77, 3016 8th Ave. South, died Sunday at Trinity Regional Hospital, following injuries received in a vehicle accident. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bruce's Funeral Home, with Rev. Keith Sievers, of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Cemetery. There will be Veterans of Foreign Wars graveside honors, by Post No. 1856, Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include his sister, Agnes Ditzenberger, Fort Dodge. He is preceded in death by brothers, Albert and Herman; sisters, Sevina Knutson, Florence Hanson, Elsie Clark, and Mable Deimerly.

Otto Hanson was born April 18, 1915, in Thor. His wife Phyllis died in 1968. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, and awarded a Bronze Star. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1856, Fort Dodge. He retired as an employee of Cargill Seed Company in the early 1960's. He had been a resident of Fort Dodge since 1950. BRUCE'S FUNERAL HOME. Burial in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation 4:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday.

FORT DODGE MAN DIES IN CRASH

A Fort Dodge man was fatally injured Sunday evening in a two vehicle accident. Otto L. Hanson, 77, 3016 8th Ave. S., was killed when the car he was driving was struck by a van driven by Mark L. Hartman, 30, Storm Lake. According to police officer Robert Thode, Hanson was pronounced dead on arrival at Trinity Regional Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance following the accident which occured about 6:50 p.m. Hanson was leaving the Happy Chef parking lot and as he pulled onto Fifth Avenue South was struck by the Hartman van, Thode said. Hartman, his wife, Laura, 28, and daughter, Christine, 8, were also taken to Trinity Regional Hospital, where they were treated and released. Another daughter, Jennifer, 9, was not injured in the accident. Thode said an autopsy will be performed Monday to determine the cause of Hanson's death. The accident is still under investigation by the Fort Dodge Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol and the Webster County Medical Examiner.
