Richard R. Simpson passed away Friday, January 2, 2009, at Toledo Hospital. He was born January 5, 1932, in Renwick, Iowa. Richard served in the U.S. Army from April 7, 1952, through April 1, 1954. He married Alice M. Schroder on April 6, 1956, and she preceded him in 2005. Richard worked for General Mills Inc. from 1951 to 1962, and for Unitcast Foundry from 1962 until retiring in 1994. An avid bowler, Dick also enjoyed playing cards and darts. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Arlene) Schroder, James (Diane) Schroder, Dennis (Dianna) Schroder, Glenn (Karen) Schroder, Donna Harrison and Rex (Sandy) Simpson; ten grandchildren; eight great-grand-children and two great-great- grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Phyllis "Lisa" Kidder. Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., on Monday, January 5, 2009, from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions in Dick's memory may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
